But Alain, only those who desired the war and so misunderstood the 
history of colonial activity believed this... For the rest of us the 
history of neo-colonial militarist adventures always ended in mass 
murder and death... Who knowing the history of colonialism could do 
anything but despair as they protested on the streets of the cities they 
lived in ?
